Making something… from nothing
April 5th, 2007 by ov3rdramatic
Hey people, havnt done a blog in awhile so i thought i would put some of my ideas down before thursday. before i start on whats in my head i just wanted to comment on what sam was saying about artists always singing with other artists. ITS SO TRUE, they dont seem to be able to do anything by themselves anymore. in the old days it was all about your voice and the lyrics you were singing, now it about your image and how FABULOUS you look, so why stop at one hot person, we should add a few more together, they will look better and we will make more mooolah. MUSIC SHOULD BE ABOUT THE MUSIC, NOT THE IMAGE. THEY HAVE JUST TURNED INTO WHAT TRUE PUNKS WOULD CALL “SELL OUTS”. show the fellings not the money.
 But anyway now to what i was gonna say lol. um i saw a movie the other day called In & Out that reminded me of the concept that we are working on, individuality vs conformity. in this movie the main character relizes he is gay after leaving his fiance at the alter. He is at the school one day were he teachers, were he is ment to be accepting a award for being teacher of the year, at the student graduation. The school decides not to give this award to him anymore, but instead to another teacher because of the fact that he is gay, and it is not seen as an appropriate thing for a teacher at this school. It is when one of his students stands up in the crowd for his teacher and declares that he is a good teacher and that infact he is also gay. the girl sitting next to him relizes what he is doing and joins in saying that she is a lesbian. One after another students, family and friends of this teacher all declare that they are also gay (even his mother and father). they all do this to prove that he is no different to anyone else, everyone is the same. I found this interesting because as one person he could not stand up and be gay, but when everyone else stood by him and declared themselves gay, it made it seem like he wasnt different to them at all. He was individual and they had conformed for him.
Another thing that i have been doing during the holidays is looking at lyrics for highly significant artists of the past and “regular” artists of today. this is because of the concept that my good has been looking at so that our artists can speak. i think that artists that really ment something should be able to speak their minds and say anything with “meaning”. whereas “recycled artists or comercial artist should only be able to speak using their own lyrics, as if that is all they are. only figuments of our imagaination, with no real heart. For example, what Kara said about justine timberlake using his name in everything he says. Or even Michael Jackson. Even though he significantly changed music, he is no longer about the music, its just all about the tablodes. He could say things like, it doesnt matter if you’re black or white, i’m bad, i’m bad, i’m really really bad.
 Anyways i think thats enough from me. Cant wait to get into it guys
Peace out

OMG… did someone say PROPS?
March 28th, 2007 by ov3rdramatic
today in our WONDERFUl class without clary, we FINALLY recieved our lovely props. our group was given 4 briefcases, 1 old 3 new, and the other group recieved 4 foam blocks, 3 pink 1 blue, ohhh cheesey got a boys colour. we all then brain stormed some ideas for these unusual props. some of these ideas were
* Briefcases lol (how original)
* Ipods
* books
* Placards
* bricks, and so on and so forth
 After a long discussion we all decided that it would be in our best interests to combin groups and make one big SUPER-ENSEMBLE. we have already formed so great ideas to incorporate all of the props.
Anyways im tired now, so
nighty night.

Seeings as i have only one blog entry so far may just be a small idea to do another one…
The other day, after we had performed our tableaux performances, we were told that we needed to add song to it, because it wasnt an element our group put in (if anyone noticed we weren’t really comfortable with that. not all of us have voices like kaitlyn). So we decided to right a lil poem to encorparate with it.
And here it goes…
~Why won’t they leave me alone?
I dont want to be a clone.
Why cant they clearly see
That i just want to be ME~
ohh wasn’t that so sweet. After spending a period brainstorming and listening to music, we actually came up with some really good ideas. i am really looking forward to the way in which our ensemble takes it’s self. we have four total different ppl in our group that will make for some interesting play writing, (although we do already have one slightly domineering member cough *aaron* cough. ) dont worry aaron not a bad thing.
Anyway in our next period we all went into the library to do some research. the gang looked up lyrics, songs that changed the world and some interesting information on some largly influentual artists. i focused my research on the song “hurricane” by bob dylan, and the story behind the lyrics.
The “Hurricane”… Ruban Carter.
” in the summer of 1966, racial tentions erupted in several U.S cities, including Paterson New Jersey. In June of that year, three murders sparked what many now believe was the wrongful conviction of Rubin “Hurricane” Carter and John Artis for first degree murder. After spending 19 years in prison was set free. all charges where dropped against Carter 22 years after he had first been accused of the triple murder.
This leaves the message: no matter who you are, how much you have, how prominent you are, how innocent you are, the white racist criminal justice system stands ready to smash you down”.
In the words of Martin Luther King Jnr
“i have a dream”… and that is to go to bed.
Thank you and goodnight.

Putting it together… brick by brick
March 14th, 2007 by ov3rdramatic
Finally… i can write my first blog. Dam computers!!!
Anyway. just the other day or year 12 drama class was given our ensemble criteria and stimulus (bout time clarey :)-) We had to listen to the song “Another brick in the wall” part 2), then write our thoughts feelings and any ideas that we had about the meaning in the song. Later on that week we split into our TWO groups (wow how HUGE) and put together a scene using 5 tableauxs. We had to develop these by adding, words, morphing and eventually singing. epp. even though i love to sing, i hope my group never ask me to do so.
We finished this off by performing them to each other and giving harsh critisism. (sorry i really can’t spell, if you havn’t already noticed.)
Well thats how it’s going out the moment, will keep you up to speed.
Focker out!
